Common Sheet Metal Materials

Common sheet metal materials include aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel, copper and brass. Their strength, weight, corrosion resistance, conductivity, formability and cost suit different industrial applications.

Laser cutting, CNC punching, bending, welding and finishing turn sheet stock into structural parts and housings. Select the grade and thickness according to function, operating environment, appearance and manufacturing requirements.

SUS201 Stainless Steel

SUS201 is an austenitic stainless steel with strength and moderate corrosion resistance, usually at a lower cost than SUS304. It is best suited to indoor or mildly corrosive conditions. Bending springback and work hardening require attention during fabrication; brushed and mirror finishes are common options.

Applications: Indoor decorative panels, appliance and commercial equipment housings, guards and cost-sensitive stainless steel components with limited corrosive exposure.

Engineering-Grade Sheet Metal Fabrication

Sheet metal processes and materials support prototypes, functional components and production, with engineering review and project quotations.

  1. 2D & 3D CAD Review

Our engineers review DWG, DXF, dimensioned PDF and STEP files, including thickness, holes, slots, bends, contours and assembly features, to assess process planning, nesting, manufacturability and cost.

  2. Design for Manufacturability Review

Sheet metal DFM review evaluates minimum hole sizes, edge distances, bend radii, bend interference, flanging and drawing feasibility, welds, assembly features and distortion risks. Recommendations help improve manufacturability and dimensional consistency.

  3. Process Options & Quotation

Compare laser cutting, CNC turret punching, bending, welding, self-clinching fastener installation, drawing, flanging and assembly based on geometry, material, thickness, quantity and accuracy requirements.

  4. Engineering Review & Quality Control

Engineers review the manufacturing process and parameters for each order. Quality control throughout production checks dimensional accuracy, structural requirements and surface finish against the approved specifications.

  5. Engineering Materials & Defined Tolerances

Select carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized steel and other sheet materials in suitable thicknesses. Review process tolerances, fasteners, fixtures and assembly requirements for enclosures, frames and structural components.

Manufacturing Application Examples

These injection molding examples illustrate related applications within our broader manufacturing services, including thin walls, inserts, overmolding and precision plastic parts.

Thin-Wall Electronic Housings

Thin-walled electronic housings require consistent surfaces and reliable assembly fit. DFM review considers draft, ribs and undercuts before tooling, mold trials and low-volume production.
